What happens when immense strength meets soft-hearted sweetness? Strong Girl Bong-soon is a delightful blend of superhero charm, romantic tension, and laugh-out-loud moments.

Strong Girl Bong-soon” is a South Korean television series that aired from February 24, 2017, to April 15, 2017, on JTBC. Directed by Lee Hyung-min and written by Baek Mi-kyung, this romantic comedy series gained nationwide popularity after its release. The drama consists of 16 episodes and is available to watch on Netflix and Viki.

Plot Summary

Do Bong-soon is a kind and sweet girl who dreams of creating a video game based on her life. Though she appears petite and feminine, she possesses supernatural strength that makes her incredibly powerful, almost superhuman. This extraordinary strength is hereditary and is passed down to the women in her family. Ahn Min-hyuk, the CEO of a video company called Ainsoft, hires Do Bong-soon as his bodyguard after discovering her supernatural abilities. A series of kidnappings involving women occurs in the area where Bong-soon lives, and she becomes involved in the case after witnessing one such incident. In Guk-doo, who is Bong-soon's childhood crush, is a police officer assigned to investigate the kidnapping cases. Bong-soon decides to catch the culprit after he tries to harm her best friend, and Min-hyuk helps her in this mission. As Bong-soon and Min-hyuk work together, they grow closer, which confuses Bong-soon as she struggles to distinguish her feelings between her employer and her childhood crush.

My thoughts

The writer and director had done an excellent job by binding romance, comedy, action, crime, and drama together. The whole cast did a commendable job in terms of acting, and I would specifically like to compliment the chemistry between Park Hyung-sik and Park Bo-young as an adorable couple. The theme of the drama is bright and lively, making it well-suited for its fictional plot. The script is filled with entertaining moments and a perfect blend of emotions. Since the drama is based on a fictional narrative involving supernatural powers, there's no need to look for logic in it—just sit back and enjoy the series. The love triangle between leads, the cute jealousy moments, and the way their relationship turns out in the end are worth watching. The mystery crime plot of the story was also interesting, and the other side characters added a comic touch to this serious plot.

Overall, "Strong Girl Bong-soon" is a perfect mix of a variety of genres and emotions. If you like such fictional romantic comedy series, this drama is a must-watch. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this series, especially the cute romance between the leads, and I strongly recommend watching it.

That’s my take on "Strong Girl Bong-soon"! Drop your favorite scenes or character moments in the comments below.
