Plot summary
Ok Chan-mi discovers that her twin brother, Ok Chan-kyu (who is known as Park Won-seok after being adopted), has died. However, she does not believe that he would have committed suicide. After witnessing the police quickly closing the case, she decides to uncover the truth on her own. Chan-mi transfers to Yong-tan High School, where her brother used to study, without revealing her identity. While investigating her brother’s death, Chan-mi learns about Ji Soo-heon, the first person to see and report Park Won-seok’s death. At the school, there is a mysterious figure known as ‘Hero,’ who is famous for seeking justice against bullies. This leads Chan-mi to suspect that Hero might be responsible for her brother’s murder. As she delves deeper into the investigation, Chan-mi uncovers numerous secrets hidden by the students, which complicates the mystery and increases the number of potential suspects.
My thoughts
The writing of the series keeps you engaged with its compelling story. All the actors delivered strong performances, but Lomon and Shin Ye-eun truly stood out. The dark and cold cinematography perfectly matched the thrilling nature of the drama. The entire series was filled with twists and turns and featured a fast-paced plot. It also tackled serious social issues like school bullying, harassment, murder, and violence, making it somewhat mature for a school setting while reflecting the harsh realities of today’s world. Ji Soo-heon’s action scenes were particularly impressive. Despite the drama adhering to its revenge theme, the chemistry between Chan-mi and Ji Soo-heon was heartwarming. However, I was puzzled by the inclusion of Ji Soo-heon’s brain tumor storyline, especially since he was already facing significant challenges. Additionally, the ending felt a bit rushed; it would have benefited from a few more episodes to wrap things up more thoroughly.
I thoroughly enjoyed the drama, and I found the ending to be quite satisfying. Although the series is set in a school, it never feels childish or immature; instead, it presents a more serious tone, complemented by impressive acting. If you enjoy fast-paced dramas with unexpected plot twists, I highly recommend watching it.
