Revenge is a dish best served cold, and The Glory proves it with stunning precision. This K-drama isn’t just about payback; it’s a sobering look at trauma, resilience, and the quiet strength it takes to rise from the ashes.

The Glory” is a South Korean series that was released in two parts. The first part premiered on December 30, 2022, and the second part followed on March 10, 2023. Written by Kim Eun-sook and directed by Ahn Gil-ho, this thrilling revenge series consists of 16 episodes and is available for streaming on Netflix.

Plot Summary

Moon Dong-eun is a high school student who had to drop out of school after facing brutal bullying by her rich peers. Dong-eun decides to take revenge on them and becomes the home room teacher of the bully leader's daughter. The bullies, who are doing exceptionally well in their lives after destroying their victims' lives, are shaken by Dong-eun’s comeback for revenge.

Joo Yeo-jeong, who is a plastic surgeon, helps Dong-eun to seek her revenge, and they both fall for each other while accomplishing this vengeance. Despite witnessing his father's cruel death and carrying that traumatic pain, Yeo-jeong stands strong with Dong-eun and helps her.

Dong-eun schemes a plan to make her bullies pay for their bad deeds and reveal their cruel faces to the whole world. Her transition from helpless victim to powerful executioner of her bullies is worth watching.

My Thoughts

The writer did an excellent job of crafting a satisfying revenge plot. All the actors excelled in bringing their characters to life, but I particularly want to commend Song Hye-kyo and Lim Ji-yeon for their outstanding performances. The chemistry between the lead characters is deeply moving, while the behavior of the bullies is despicable, showcasing a strong overall performance.

The drama has a cold and dark vibe, giving a serious tone of revenge. I liked how the main lead was determined to take revenge, and that thrill was maintained throughout the series.

The series has some scenes based on true events that occurred in South Korea, like the beating and burning done to Dong-eun. This added the emotional touch to the story, reflecting the harsh reality that some students have to face. I loved the understanding nature of Yeo-jeong and others who helped her in seeking revenge.

Overall, "The Glory" is a perfect revenge series with a thrilling plot and a satisfactory ending. If you enjoy such a fast-paced gritting series with outstanding performance by the whole cast, I strongly recommend watching it.

Did The Glory make you feel empowered, emotional, or just plain speechless? I’d love to know what stayed with you most!
