Are you looking for a light-hearted romantic comedy drama? Then “Business Proposal” is a must-watch, with sweet romance and hilarious moments.

Business Proposal” is a South Korean television series aired on SBS TV from February 28, 2022, to April 5, 2022. Written by Han Seol-hee & Hong Bo-hee and directed by Park Seon-ho, this romantic comedy show is based on a web novel with the same title. The drama consists of 12 episodes, available to watch on Netflix.

Plot Summary

Shin Ha-ri, a researcher in Department 1 at Go Food, goes on a blind date with Kang Tae-moo as a favor for her best friend, Jin Young-seo. However, she is unaware that Tae-moo is actually the CEO of Go Food, making him her boss. Tired of the blind dates arranged by his grandfather, who is eager for him to get married, Tae-moo decides to marry Ha-ri to put an end to his dating troubles.

Shortly after, Tae-moo discovers that Ha-ri was not his intended blind date; instead, Young-seo sent her as a substitute. Despite this mix-up, Tae-moo proposes a contract marriage to Ha-ri, and she agrees in exchange for a significant sum of money. Later on, Tae-moo learns that Ha-ri is actually his employee, but they both decide to keep this a secret from his grandfather, who remains unaware of the situation.

Just like Tae-moo, Young-seo is also tired of blind dates arranged by her father. She leaves her house and ends up renting a flat next to her love at first sight, Cha Sung-hoon, who is Tae-moo's chief secretary and his close best friend. Sung-hoon initially keeps his distance from Young-seo, but eventually falls for her. Meanwhile, Tae-moo and Ha-ri started growing close to each other and ultimately fell in love with each other.

My thoughts

Business Proposal” is a perfect romantic comedy series with charming characters and an entertaining storyline. There is no doubt that the cast selection and direction of the show are top-notch. The chemistry between the lead actors as well as the side couple is romantic and swoon-worthy. For that, I would especially like to praise the performance given by Se-jeong, Hyo-seop, Min-kyu, and In-ah.

The classic office romance theme of the show is perfect for the boss and employee trope. Although the plot of the series is a typical contract marriage between a rich boss and his poor employee, the story is entertaining and binge-worthy. Some scenes are so hilarious that they will never fail to crack you up, and the bold romance between Sung-hoon and Young-seo is definitely memorable.

One thing I want to point out is the ending of the show; it was predictable and a little rushed. It would have been great if the drama lasted longer. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed the drama from start to end.

Overall, “Business Proposal” is a perfect romantic comedy series with a short but sweet storyline. If you enjoy such lighthearted shows, this drama is a must-watch. I loved this series and highly recommend watching it.
