Plot Summary 

Once a successful advertising copywriter, Kang Dan-i transitions to being a housewife after marrying, focusing on managing the home and caring for her daughter Jae-hee. However, when her husband, Hong Dong-min, cheats on her, their marriage ends in divorce. 

Now unemployed and penniless, Dan-i desperately searches for a job. Unfortunately, due to her long career break, no one is willing to hire her, despite her talent and passion for work. At last, she works as a housemaid for her childhood friend Cha Eun-ho when he asks for a reference. 

Eun-ho is a successful author, lecturer, and chief editor at book publishing company Gyeoroo. In their childhood, Dan-i saves Eun-ho from an accident, and they become best friends from that moment on. 

At first, Dan-i keeps Eun-ho in the dark about her working at his house and her divorce. But eventually, he discovers the truth. He asks her to live with him, and they start living under the same roof until Dan-i lands a job and secures her own place to live. 

Soon, Dan-i gets a job as a task support team member on a contract basis at a publishing company where Eun-ho works. Naturally, they keep their connection a secret at work, while Dan-i hides the fact that she has worked as a copywriter in the past and tells everyone that she is just a fresher. 

Ji Seo-joon, a freelance book designer, falls for Dan-i after their coincidental meetings with each other and asks her on a date. Eun-ho meets Seo-joon to get him to work at Gyeoroo, but they get into a heated argument when Seo-joon claims that Eun-ho's company has locked up the famous writer Kang, who disappeared suddenly. 

Song Hae-rin, the lead editor and Dan-i's trainer at work, persuades Seo-joon to work for Gyeoroo. She has a crush on Eun-ho, but he rejects her as he has always had feelings for Dan-i. 

After hearing Eun-ho's confession, Dan-i realizes her feelings for him. A slow and beautiful romance blossoms between them as they navigate the challenges of their personal and professional life. 

My Thoughts 

The writer has created a beautiful love story about childhood friends who become lovers. It highlights a mature romance between a divorced single mother and a successful writer-editor. Together, they navigate the challenges of their age difference and societal expectations while also dealing with professional setbacks. 

The show's cinematography beautifully captures the cozy romance set against a backdrop of books. The entire cast did an exceptional job in terms of acting, and each character is truly memorable. 

The on-screen chemistry between Dan-i and Eun-ho is SO good! The chaotic bond between Hae-rin and Seo-joon, as well as the crazy dynamics of Ji-yool and Hoon, is absolute entertainment. 

All the employees of Gyeoroo have an amusing charm that will make you fall for the books. I loved the scene where Dan-i goes to the club with Ms.Seo, where they unexpectedly meet Ms.Go and eventually open up about their bottled emotions while venting about their past. 

The show seamlessly combines romance, comedy, and melodrama. It explores the challenges faced by the publishing industry and highlights the effort involved in creating books. 

The series addresses the difficulties women encounter when trying to return to work after a career break. By showcasing everyday life problems, it resonates with a diverse audience, making it highly relatable. 

The drama unfolds at a slow pace and centers around adults who believe in second chances. Featuring a diverse cast of characters and realistic subplots, this series draws viewers into its captivating storyline. 

I thoroughly enjoyed watching it and would highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates slow-burning romance stories. The show concludes on a positive note, giving the audience a sense of satisfaction similar to that of reading a good book.
